Delivery trip onboard the new Lagoon 52 S!

2015 was a year that saw a number of new catamarans: Lagoon 450 S, Lagoon 52 S and Lagoon 42. What better than a delivery trip for talking about these new Lagoon? We obtained two accounts. Here in words and pictures is the story of two delivery trips onboard a Lagoon 52 S.
We start with Nicolas, a skipper at Gulf Stream. Last summer, he had the opportunity of delivering the first Lagoon 52 S out of the yard to the autumn boat shows. He tells us about it.
Who are you?
Nicolas, 29 years of age, a delivery skipper for 5 years, I’ve sailed more than 150,000 n.m. on delivery trips, primarily on catamarans (many of them Lagoon). For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved being on the water and sailing.
What were the circumstances of your delivery trip?
I delivered Lagoon 52 S No. 1. We left the CNB yard in Bordeaux on 17 August and arrived in Fréjus two weeks later for the Cannes Boat Show.
What was the highlight of the trip?
The best moments of this delivery trip were very definitely all the hours of sailing in light airs. This new Lagoon is differentiated from the old model by the ease with which it drives through the water, thanks to a nice sail wardrobe and a new rig.
What did you like about the boat?
For this delivery, the 52 was equipped with D4 sails. I was very impressed with the extent and quality of the sail wardrobe on this new model. You can have fun finding the best possible configurations and keeping the speed up under all conditions! Add to this its thoroughbred lines and a functional and spacious interior, and I can say that this is a very handsome and seaworthy boat.
Any advice about navigation on board this boat?
I advise all future Lagoon 52 S owners not to hesitate to adopt this full sail wardrobe. It will guarantee them excellent sailing.
As for Maya, a member of the Lagoon team, she spent 3 days aboard the Lagoon 52 S, between Hyères (France) and Barcelona (Spain).
Before leaving, she promised us that she would come back with a few photos. A promise that she kept, as she returned with a full memory card in her camera.
Arrival at the port of Hyères, where the Lagoon 52 S was patiently awaiting us.
06:30, time to head for Barcelona
(You can see here one of the distinguishing features of the Lagoon 52 S: its helming station with the rigid bimini)
Thank you to Maya and Nicolas for their accounts.
