Cruising is one of the best ways to travel the world. You can always discover new people, new countries, new beaches…  I was recently reading the blog of “Vagabonds of seas”, a Lagoon 380 owned and sailed by a French family, and their last post was about a strange island: the happy island. This island is part of the 600 islands which form the Grenadines. It is located close to the bigger island named Union. You can see it on Google map under the name: “happy bar”!

Indeed, this handmade island is a tiny piece of accumulated shells where you can only find a bar! But what a bar: imagine yourself in the middle of the reef with blue lagoon colours and a glass of local cocktail… You can only access it by dinghy, but as you see on the map picture, it seems to be quite a well known place for cruisers in South Caribbean.

This place has its own website: http://happyislandunion.com/ and you can find a good video here: Happy Island history.

* “Vagabonds of seas” belongs to a lovely french family which decided to leave their land-life to join the cruising sailors world with no end planned. Their blog is in french but Google translation can help you!
